Introduction and Summary

This is the privacy policy for fullscreen.app. It describes how and why we collect, store, use, share, and disclose (let’s summarize it as “process”) information about you when you use the website, its functions, or even just consume its content (our “services”). fullscreen.app is a website under construction.

So who is “we”? We are Codepals OÜ and we are responsible for the mentioned services. We are the owner and data controller of the personal data that is collected when you use the website. If you want to get in touch with us, you will find below some ways to do so.

General Structure of This Privacy Policy

Each service we provide is described in a separate section. We explain

  • what data we (and our infrastructure provider) process
  • what role our infrastructure provider plays
  • how long we keep the data
  • whether data is transferred to third countries

Service: General Website & Content Delivery

Data We (and Our Infrastructure Provider) Process

Actually, in order to make this website work (e.g. display blog posts or this privacy policy), there is no data required that you have to input manually. Before you see anything from our website, your browser sends requests to the server to get such content. Doing so, it also transfers metadata to the server, such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system type and version
  • The language used
  • The referral source

The IP address is considered personal data and can be used to identify you. For example, if you visit this website again within the next few hours, it may be possible to see that it’s the same IP address and therefore very likely the same person returning. We use this data to ensure our services work safely (e.g., blocking IPs associated with suspicious activity). We therefore have a legitimate interest in processing this data.

Use of Cloudflare

Our service runs on infrastructure provided by Cloudflare, Inc., based in the USA. Cloudflare helps deliver our content efficiently and securely by using your IP address to determine the nearest server. For more about their privacy policy, visit Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Out of the IP address, it is possible to derive the approximate location of the user (e.g., country, city, region). This data is used to improve our services, such as offering localized content, but mainly we use it to ensure that our services are working properly and to protect our website from attacks. To do this on our own we would need to invest a lot of time and money. We therefore have a legitimate interest in using Cloudflare. If this website generates revenue at some point in the future we might consider to switch to a different provider that is located in the EU.

Data Deletion / Retention

  • Most IP addresses are deleted the same day from server logs.
  • In cases of errors or suspected attacks, they may be stored longer for troubleshooting.
  • Cloudflare states that they retain logs for 1 week under certain circumstances.

Data Transfers to Third Countries

Cloudflare operates globally, including in the USA. As they are subject to U.S. laws, it is possible for U.S. authorities to access metadata. We have no control over this but use Cloudflare to ensure efficient service delivery.

Service: Fullscreen.app Core Functionality

The Fullscreen.app has the purpose to display text as large as possible on a screen e.g. a mobile phone, tablet or even a television screen. In general it is not required to input any data to explore the main functionality. You can go to https://fullscreen.app and click on the button “Go Fullscreen” to see the functionality. However when you customize the text you want to display, you have to input some text. If you want to style it you can choose some attributes like text color, background color and so on.

Data We (and Our Infrastructure Provider) Process

The data that you input by typing a text, by selecting a style e.g. the background color in the options is processed by us in order to display the text in the way you want it. While you type a text you can see that the URL changes. This can be used by you to share the text with others. For the free version of the fullscreen.app we transfer this URL in combination with some event data e.g. the click of “Go Fullscreen” to our server. We store the text parameter in a database for 30 days to be able to understand where we need to improve the service and in which directions we can build our business. This is implemented in a way that is in our control and we can delete the data at any time. We do not work with any third party provider to have eyes on this data. After 30 days each character of the text gets replaced by a “x” character. So if you have typed in “Hello World” it will be replaced by “xxxxx xxxxx”. This is done to ensure that we do not have any personally identifiable data in our database for more than this time. It is up to you to not type in any personally identifiable data. We recommend to not type in any personally identifiable data without the consent of that person. If you are a taxi driver or chauffeur and you create a pick up sign, you should mention the processing with our service to the person you are picking up and ask for their consent.

We are working on a paid version of the service that will not store any data at all. We are also working on a version that is running offline on your tablet or phone. If you are interested in this please reach out to us. Furthermore for the free version we will implement a way to check the text automatically for typical first or last names. If we find such a name we will replace it with an anonymized version of it.

Service: AI Chat with digital twin of Alice Smith

We provide a AI Chat Prototype under fullscreen.app/aidemo . This allows you to try out an AI model that we get provided from Cloudflare. The model is pretrained with data that is not related with us or the data you provide and the model itself is not and will not be enhanced with your data in the future. You are able to ask questions to the AI by typing in a custom message instead of “Who are you?“. You are able to type in there anything you want.

Data We (and Our Infrastructure Provider) Process

Any data related with other services described here is not used for enhancing the AI models provided by Cloudflare. The data you type in yourself is also not used for enhancing the AI model behind the service. However in order to interact with the AI you can send data on your own action.

When you type in a question or you prompt the AI under fullscreen.app/aidemo this data is transferred to Cloudflare, a provider located in the USA. You are free to decide what data that is, as you are the person typing it in. In general it is recommended to not give information to the AI that is confidential, secret or personally identifiable data. Also not of others. This is in your control.

We as Codepals OÜ do not store your data and we do not even have the transparency what you typed in there, also not after pressing the send button.
